Accessing your University Emails

There are a number of ways you can access your University emails. Here are the most common ways to access your emails on different devices and systems.

On PC or Mac

On a University PC

  1. Sign in to the computer you are using by following these steps.
  2. Click the Start button.
  3. Select the Outlook Tile (or search for it if it isn’t visible).

On a Personal PC or Mac

  1. Visit 365.lincoln.ac.uk
  2. Sign in using your University email address and password.

  4. Click on Office 365 Apps and follow the steps to install Office 365 applications on your computer.
  5. You can then access your emails via the Outlook desktop application by signing in with your University email and password.

 

On Office 365 (Web)

  1. Visit 365.lincoln.ac.uk

  3. Click on the Outlook Icon to view your emails.

 

On Mobile Devices

To maintain the highest levels of security and authentication, only the Microsoft Outlook app will work for use with University emails on mobile devices.

Follow the steps below to install the Microsoft Outlook app to your device.

  1. Visit the App Store and search for “Microsoft Outlook”.
  2. Tap “GET” and authenticate with your Apple Account Password or Touch/Face ID.
  3. Wait for the app to download, then open it.
  4. The app may find your University of Lincoln 365 account automatically if you’ve installed other 365 applications on your device. If so, click on “Add Account”.
  5. If the app doesn’t display an account, enter your University email in the Email field, then click on “Sign In”.
  6. If you have the Microsoft Authenticator app installed and set up, you will be directed to it to authenticate your account and sign you in. If not, you will need to enter your University email and password on a separate sign in screen.
  7. Verify your identity via multi-factor authentication if prompted.

Android Devices

  1. Visit the Google Play Store and search for “Microsoft Outlook”.
  2. Touch Install” and authenticate with your Google Account credentials.
  3. Wait for the app to download, then open it.
  4. Tap Get Started” if this is your first time accessing the app.
  5. Tap Skip” to skip adding a Google Account.
  6. Type in your University email address, then tap Continue”.
  7. Enter your University account password and tap “Sign In” or Next”.
  8. Verify your identity via multi-factor authentication when prompted.

 

Windows Phone/Other Devices

How to update your computers and mobile devices after changing your password

If you change your University password, you will need to update your password across all devices where the password is remembered. Please Note: Not changing your password across all devices may result in you being locked out of your account due to the device attempting and failing to login at regular intervals.

 

Outlook for PC

  1. Open Outlook and you should be prompted for the new password right away. (If not, it may take a few minutes before the box will appear).
  2. In the Windows Security dialog box that appears, make sure the username field is your University email address. If you’re unable to edit the username field, select Use Another Account, and in the new window you should be able to modify the username.
  3. Enter your new password and then check the box to Remember my credentials.

Outlook for Mac

  1. Select the Tools menu and then click Accounts.
  2. In the right pane under Server information, enter a new password in the Password box.
  3. Near the bottom click the More Options button.
  4. Make sure the Authentication is set to Use Incoming Server Info and then click OK.
  5. Close the Accounts window to save the new password.

iOS (iPhone, iPad)

  1. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Tap on your University Email Account.
  3. You’ll see a message stating there was a problem accessing your account. Please re-enter the password for…  Below that message, tap the link Re-enter Password.
  4. Enter your new password and tap Next. Your new password has now been saved.
  5. Tap the Home button and check your email. New messages should appear shortly.

Android

  1. Tap on Settings and then tap Accounts.
  2. Tap on Exchange and then tap on Account Settings.
  3. Tap on your email address.
  4. Swipe to the bottom and tap on Incoming Settings.
  5. Delete your old password and then enter your new password.
  6. Tap Done. Your new password has been saved, and new email should now appear shortly.

Apple Mail

  1. Open Apple Mail and try sending a message.  When you click Send, you will see a popup window asking you for your password.
  2. Enter your new password and then click Next. This will send the email, as well as update Apple Mail with your new password.

If you don’t receive that prompt, you can also edit your password using this approach.

  1. Go to System Preferences and select Internet Accounts.
  2. Select your Exchange account on the left and the select the Details… button in the upper right.
  3. Delete and then re-enter your new password, then tap OK.
  4. Close the System Preferences window and you’re done. New email will arrive shortly.
