Before You Arrive"Get Back Into Your Account" Screenhot

Before enrolment, you need to follow the instructions below to get started:

  1. Visit sspr.lincoln.ac.uk to set your initial password.
  2. Click on “Forgot Password?”
  3. When the “Get Back Into Your Account” page appears, enter your Student ID in the User ID box as displayed: StudentID@students.lincoln.ac.uk

    Your Student ID is the is the same ID number for both Nottingham and Lincoln and will start with the numbers “20…”. This information will be provided to you for self-registration.

  4. Next, enter the characters in the picture displayed on the screen or the words in the audio. Then, click “Next”.
  5. If you have a personal email address registered with us, you will then receive a verification code and instructions on creating a new University password in your personal email inbox. You will now need to enter a new password. For a strong password, please ensure:
    • It is at least 10 characters long
    • It includes at least one upper and one lower case letter (e.g. a–z, A–Z)
    • It includes at least one number (0-9)
    • It includes at least one special character (! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + | ~ – = ` { } [ ] : ” ; ’ < > ? , . / )
    • It consists of 4 random, unrelated words
    • It is not based on personal information, your own name, user id, names of family, children or pets
  6. Click “Submit”, then go back to https://gateway.lincoln.ac.uk to log in with your new password.

Note: If you ever forget your password, click on “Forgot Password?” on the Gateway login page to change it.

While You’re Here

The majority of your Nottingham and Lincoln services will be available through the Gateway page at gateway.lincoln.ac.uk. This is where you should go for all signposted links to resources relating to your course, including timetables and room bookings at Lincoln.

 

Your Lincoln and Nottingham Accounts

Lincoln Account

Your Lincoln account will be used to access the University of Lincoln Wi-Fi (via eduroam) and corporate devices, as well as the GCW Library, Timetabling and Room Bookings systems. This follows the usual format of StudentID@students.lincoln.ac.uk. We recommend Chrome as the default browser for any web-accessed application.

Nottingham Account

Your Nottingham account will be used to access many services, including Office 365, Moodle, Library etc. These are accessed via the web (we recommend Chrome as the default browser) and the account details are typically StudentID@Nottingham.ac.uk.

Logging on to University of Lincoln Workstations

  1. Find a PC on-campus, and press Ctrl+Alt+Del.
  2. Use your Lincoln Student ID – e.g. 12345678@students.lincoln.ac.uk – and password in the fields that appear.
  3. Visit gateway.lincoln.ac.uk and click on the “Sign In” button for a list of available applications for you from the University of Lincoln.
  4. Select your required Application and sign in using your Lincoln Student ID – e.g. 12345678@students.lincoln.ac.uk – and password.

Which Login should you use for individual applications?

Lincoln

Whenever you see the sign-in screen below, you will need to sign in using your Lincoln Student ID – e.g. 123456789@students.lincoln.ac.uk – and password.

Nottingham

For the majority of other systems, including Moodle and Office 365 (you will access all University emails through Outlook), you will need to sign in using your Nottingham Student ID.

 

Wi-Fi

The University of Lincoln provides free unlimited Wi-Fi across campus and in the student halls.

1. To get started, go to the Wi-Fi settings on your device and select the “eduroam” network.

2. Next, enter your username in the following format:

123456789@students.lincoln.ac.uk
(where “123456789” is your student ID)

3. Enter your password. If your device asks you to trust the network, allow this. If you are using an older device, we may have to install some security certificates for you.

Once the device has connected, it will automatically log in to the network whenever you are on campus. Please note: For Android, please use PEAP and MSCHAPV2 in the drop-down menus that appear.

Why aren’t my Office 365 applications showing?

If your Office 365 home screen is blank after signing in (similar to the screen on the right) you may have logged in with your Lincoln Student ID. To rectify this, please sign out and close the browser, and instead, use your Nottingham ID to sign in.

How do I sign up for Big White Wall?

Big White Wall is a unique service in terms of how to sign up.

When signing up for Big White Wall, you will need to use your Lincoln Student – e.g. 12345678@students.lincoln.ac.uk. The activation email for your Big White Wall account will be sent to your Nottingham ID email address, as this is your default email. Please check your Nottingham Inbox in order to activate your account. You should then be able to login to Big White Wall using your Lincoln email address and access the content. All alerts and notifications will be sent to your Nottingham Inbox.
